Match plants to the conditions
Iowa State describes light as a common indoor limitation and recommends individual pots for different herb species. Suitable drainage and species-specific care matter more than matching every pot into one crowded arrangement.
Sketch the complete shelf
Record the clear width, depth, and height. Include the space needed to lift a pot out, not only the pot footprint. Use the product’s load instructions and avoid improvising changes to a shelf that was not designed for the placement.
Start with fewer plants
Choose two or three herbs you use often and learn how the location performs. Additional lighting may be useful if natural light is insufficient. Add plants when the care routine is working, rather than buying a fully stocked display before testing the spot.
